So today I wanted to list some new web pages I have found that can help you in your efforts to write. Before I go into all of that I did want to update you on what I have been working on.

As some of you know I created a Christmas play for kids called The Christmas Mouse with music by Linda Arnold, and I found out this summer that the theater was going to run the play again this Christmas witch was great news. Then I found out that it’s going on a small road trip and going to play at a winter festival before it opens up at the theater. Then just when I thought it could not get any better I found out that I won the Silicon Valley small theater award for outstanding youth play. It felt so good to know that all my hard work paid off.

I have also been working on my gay vampire script and for the most part it is done. I just need to proofread it and I have a rough draft of the treatment but need to go back over that. Treatments have always been an issue with me even in college. I can remember the first time I turned one into this professor. He turned it back to me a couple of days later with a note that said “please do this again not only for you but your GPA”. So working on a treatment is always a slow process for me because I keep putting it off.

I have also been relooking at a sitcom pilot I created and was thinking of ways to update the jokes and the story. I also took all of my condom facebook stuff and put it into a script as a sample of my comedy writing and will post that at the bottom for you to look at if you would like.

Now for the list of web pages I am not going to go into too much about them I think that everyone should check it out and find what they can get out of it for their needs.

Script Chat: This web page brings new and seasoned screenwriters together to learn. The topic changes every week and the chat time is 5pm PST.
Twitter Database: A great place to find the twitter id of writers. It can be looked at by show or last name.
TV Writer Podcast: Gary Jones (@GrayJones) interviews some great people who are working in the industry. Great way to find out how others have been successful.
Confusing Words: Is a collection of over 3000 words that are troublesome for writers. Like Affect and effect or there, their and they’re. Words are grouped according to the way they are most often confused or misused.

For those who follow me on facebook I have been putting up all kinds of condom commercials over the last year. This is all of those put together in one big sketch comedy commercial

Maker of Memories

I am a maker of memories just like a wizard who cast a spell. What I mean by that is that when you work in the entertainment industry it’s like casting a magic spell and taking the audience on a magical journey. Then days or even years later that person thinks of the fun they had. How many of you think back to a play or film and say to someone who went with you “Remember that time we saw that film it was so funny”. This really hit home for me last year when my play The Christmas Mouse was produced and played for two weeks at Christmas. I would later hear from people that the grandkids they brought to the show went home and played Christmas Mouse. It was what I had always hoped for I had added some magic to their Christmas. Making a memory that they will forever think about (I hope). I believe this to be true not matter what part you play in the making of entertainment. Even as a stage manager the fact that I help to make sure that the show goes off with no issues helps that audience to enjoy the show. This is what I live for it’s what helps me get out of bed with things are at their darkest. Don’t get me wrong lots of money would also be nice but at the end of it all I hope to just have made someone’s life for a time better because I made the laugh or gave them a memoir that will help them through there bad times in their life.

A Day in the Life of Me

Looking as Rusty (my dog) as he tries to catch a fly.
Listen to the guy next door as he stops anyone he can find to talk about the wood he is going to put in his house he is building.
Think about black holes and the part they play in the universe.
Turn my TV on for just a little break and then 8 hours later think OMG I did not write on my treatment
Think that to clear my head I should play just one game of some kind witch never is just one.
The guy on the TV ask how many times can you call one number and it change your life? I say two times he says one but I think he is biased. Because if you call the number once and it changes your life your call it again just to see.
Sometimes I think I am a Rabbit other times I think I am a jack Rabbit but then I think maybe I’m just splitting hares.
I wish I still smoked then I could fill this time with that.
Dear God it’s me Michael and I’m having a hard time with my treatment. What animal can I sacrifice to get help and if that kind of thing is not something you do could you please direct me to another deity that does.
It would be so funny to say I speak Italian and say something like ” ll nostro asino ha sifilide e riteniamo che e stata la sfrontata nel prossimo villaggio” translation “Our donkey has syphilis, and we think it was the slut in the next village.” But I would say it all sexy.

I’m not sure that Humpty Dumpty was pushed I think he is lazy and was sleeping on the job and fell off but he wanted workmen’s comp so he said “he was pushed off”

If I lived in Canada I would be there king. Once a year they would hold a party in my honor then have me killed for making them say about and not a boat. LOL

My Dream

        When I was a kid in the summer my mother would take my sister and I to the movies on hot days because we did not have AC or a pool. I can still remember the first time I saw that magical silver light flicker on the screen it captivated me. It’s from here that my love of film started, and for that matter everything to do with entertainment.
      As I got older I would play with my Star Wars action figures and make up my own stories. I can remember being very unhappy that I had married Luke and Princess Leia just to find out that they were brother and sister. I drove my mother crazy with frozen bottles of water that hand Action figures in them. She would say “Honey can Han Solo come out of the freezer now?” I would go running to get him cut the bottle open and make up some story about how the ice under the earth was melting and a man from the past would come out to lead his people to victory.
     This was the time in my life when telling a story was easy. When it would get hard is when I would try to type out stories with my Dyslexia. I cannot tell you how long I have struggled with it. It is maddening to me that I understand M theory or String theory, but have a hard time spelling the word science (just so you know I had to look the word up.). As a kid I would at times go home and cry because I just could not write something so that another person could read it. It took a lot of hard work but now I can do it. I need the help of spell check and having the computer read it out load to me, but it works. What I want to do on this blog is talk about why journey to get to the place where a play that I created was produced last year and is coming back this year. In the hopes that others will find the courage to follow their dreams no matter what obstacles stand in front of them are.
